Tuzla Shipbuilding Industry S.A.

The Yard's story began in 1977 under the name of Atilim Shipbuilding Industry Co. Inc., being established by Naval Architect Mr Yilmaz Karahanoglu in downtown Istanbul. He moved the yard to the suburb of Tuzla in 1982 and renamed it Tuzla Shipbuilding Industry Co. Inc. The yard undertook several shipbuilding projects and specialised in hatch cover construction for domestic and international markets. Ship repairing activities were also carried out by the Yard during this period.

Financial control of the yard was taken over in 2000 by Gemak Shipbuilding Industry & Trading S.A., with their 30 years reputation in ship repair, drydocking and conversion work. The yard is now called Tuzla Shipbuilding Industry S.A, and deals only with turnkey new building projects.
